Job summary

As a result of an evidence based establishment review, which has increased our nurse patient ratio, a rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join Byland, our medicine for the elderly ward. We are a 30 bedded ward with an outstanding reputation for providing excellent quality care whilst ensuring the health and wellbeing of our staff.

Our nurse patient ratios enable our staff to give optimal care and achieve excellent job satisfaction. The ward is led by an experience and supportive Ward Manager. We have a dedicated senior 'Nurse in Charge' and 4 teams of Registered Nurses and Care Support Workers per shift. This is an overall staffing ratio of 7.5 patients per Registered Nurse and Care Support Worker.

Main duties of the job

Byland is led by experienced Ward Manager Biju Varughese, and a team of dedicated Band 6 Sisters, and a supportive Matron Jo Burns.

3) Maintain standards in accordance with ward /Trust policies and procedures and NMC code of conduct

4) Maintain a safe working environment, being aware of the necessity to comply with Health & Safety regulations and the Environmental Health Act, and to attend mandatory training courses.

5) Maintain safe custody of all drugs and medicines and when trained demonstrate the manipulation, dexterity and co-ordination of IV drugs.
