**Fixed term post for 6 months**

Are you an experienced dietitian with a passion for food service and nutritional standards? If so, this could be the role for you.

This is a new post developed to support the catering team with the delivery of high quality food to patients and staff at Harrogate hospital. We have an onsite kitchen and all our food is prepared and cooked onsite. There will be ample opportunities to show the value of this role, to promote sustainability and drive forward with quality initiatives.

The successful candidate will be supported by a proactive, engaged facilities leadership team and the Trust Nutrition Advisor, also a registered Dietitian.

Initially this post is offered fixed term until the end of March 2024.

Main duties of the job

To be an expert nutrition and dietetic resource to the Catering department providing support to ensure compliance with recommended healthcare nutrition and hydration standards to provide an effective food and drink service for patients, staff and visitors.

To work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team (Catering, Dietetics, Speech & Language Therapy and Nursing) on a strategic level in the development, delivery and evaluation of the food and drink service in order to achieve healthcare food service best practice.

To drive continuous improvements on catering matters and improve practices at ward level.

The wider dietetic department offers excellent support for professional development and participates in the training of student dietitians on A, B and C placements.

The post is based at Harrogate District Hospital which is a 400 bed, friendly hospital located in a thriving, attractive spa town, close to the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. The cities of Leeds and Bradford and historic York and Ripon are all within commuting distance. It is a high performing NHS Foundation Trust.
