Are you an occupational therapist with experience in working with children? We are a friendly and positive team of occupational therapists who are dedicated to supporting children to fulfil their potential.
In this post, you would demonstrate skills and competence in this clinical area and understanding of evidence informed approaches. You would demonstrate knowledge and understanding of SEND and the EHCP process. . With occupation as a central focus, you will provide assessment and intervention, management and evaluation of children and young people with complex health and care needs. In addition, you would support our Band 5 Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support staff.
We work within Specialist Children's Services, which is an established and experienced team of children's occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, paediatricians, specialist nurses and the autism assessment service.
Our work is varied and we can be based within special schools, mainstream and pre-school settings, the child development centres at Harrogate and Northallerton, the ward at HDFT and in the home setting.
Main duties of the job
Working with our Principal Occupational Therapist you will assist to further develop our one team approach across both localities.
You will demonstrate highly developed skills and competence in this clinical area and understanding of evidence informed approaches. You will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the EHCP process. In addition, you will deputise for the Principal Occupational Therapist in leading a small team of experienced occupational therapists and support staff, and hold a varied clinical caseload of children with complex health needs.
This post is based at Harrogate Child Development Centre, however you will also provide expert clinical support to staff in the Harrogate & Rural locality.
The work within SEND hubs will involve travel as required across the whole of North Yorkshire including Hambleton & Richmondshire, Harrogate, Scarborough, Craven and Whitby & Ryedale.
We have been awarded an external contract to provide services to the local authority inclusion services and so, as a team, we also provide support within the scope of this contract, to the whole of the North Yorkshire County Council.
After being awarded a contract for Occupational Therapy provision for SEND hubs in North Yorkshire, our team delivers occupational therapy input into newly developed Targeted Mainstream Provisions. There will be a requirement for the post holder to carry out assessments, training, advice across the North Yorkshire footprint.
