Part time permanent Consultant in Orthodontics

We are looking to welcome an enthusiastic colleague who will continue to provide excellent care in the enjoyable and friendly atmosphere of our orthodontic department at York Hospital.

This Consultant post is a part-time post (5PAs) based at York Hospital. The successful candidate will run treatment and new patient clinics based at York Hospital. Theywill participate in the Orthognathic and Orthodontic/Restorative MDTs and will carry out the full range of orthodontic consultations and treatments appropriate for secondary care. They will supervise our registrar, specialist and therapist based at York.

Candidates must have an entry on the relevant GDC Specialist Register via:

- CCST (proposed CCST date must be within 6 months of interview)

- Or has passed the ISFE in Orthodontics or will have successfully sat the ISFE within 6 months of the interview date.

The department is part of the Head and Neck & Plastics Directorate which sits in the Surgery Care Group. It is based in the Head and Neck outpatient department alongside Audiology, ENT, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Restorative Dentistry.There is an on-site laboratory and the department is 3D-enabled with intra-oral scanners, 3-Shape design software and 3D printers.

Main duties of the job

You will also be working with two Restorative Dentistry Consultants and several Maxillofacial surgeons, two of whom undertake Orthognathic surgery which is fully 3D planned using custom surgical plates and cutting guides for both single and bimaxillary procedures. Joint orthodontic/restorative patients have access to a full catalogue of treatment options including dental implants and associated hard and soft tissue augmentation.

There are excellent teaching and research opportunities, as the successful applicant will be involved in the supervision, teaching and training of specialty orthodontic registrars shared with Leeds Dental Institute and funded by HEE Yorkshire and Humber.
