Vascular Nurse Specialist

Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity to work within the Vascular Nursing team to gain experience, insight and knowledge into caring for vascular patients in an outpatient setting primarily. We provide wound care, advice and support to patients with complex care needs.

There is also an element of in-patient care in terms of advice and support in preparation for discharge.

Main duties of the job

  • Information, advice and support for patients with Peripheral Vascular Disease.
  • Provision of complex wound care, assessment and evaluation.
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm clinics, surveillance and work-up for surgery.
  • Post-discharge follow up clinics.

The post holder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service.
