Associate Transfusion Practitioner

Job summary

We are looking for an Associate Transfusion Practitioner with experience in blood transfusion be an active part of the Hospital Transfusion Team working under the supervision and alongside the Transfusion Practitioner.

This role will be based at York Hospital but may involve travel across other networks sites on regular basis.

Please note interviews for this position are held in person only and remote interviews will not be offered.

Main duties of the job

Working under the direction of the Transfusion Practitioner(s) the post holder will:-Provide assistance and support to the Transfusion Practitioner(s)o To assist with administrative tasks where necessaryo Undertake traceability requirements of the Trust in relation to BSQR in conjunction with the Transfusion Practitioner(s)o To have detailed knowledge of the Blood track manager system and produce monthly reports on alerts and non conformances to be fedback to the Hospital Transfusion Team.o Maintain standards of transfusion practiceo Maintain up to date knowledge of best practice and legislationWorking together as part of the Hospital Transfusion Team the post holder will also be responsible for participating in the regular delivery andrecording of training of all staff levels involved in the collection of blood and blood components and undertake competency based assessments incollection of blood and blood components

  • HNC/HND, NVQ level 4 or a Foundation Degree in a science subject or IBMS Certificate of Achievement Part II or other relevant clinical experience related to Blood Transfusion

  • Previous experience of working to written procedures in a laboratory environment

Aptitude and Personal Qualities

  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Confidence to lead training sessions for end users
  • Methodical approach to work and an ability to remain calm under pressure
