An opportunity has arisen for the post of an Information Governance Officer within the York & Scarborough Digital at York and Scarborough Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
You will play a vital role in supporting the Trust's compliance with data protection legislation and information governance standards. You will provide support to the Information Governance team to ensure delivery of the Information Governance Agenda. This includes supporting teams with Freedom of Information requests, answering IG relating queries, maintaining IG administrative documents including Data Protection Impact Assessments, assisting with data breaches, and supporting compliance reviews.
Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Confidentiality and Compliance knowledge will be required however additional training will be provided where necessary.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an outstanding candidate with understanding and knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection legislation, have the ability to work independently and to use own initiative when appropriate, have experience in working with sensitive and confidential information, able to analyse complex information requiring interpretation in order to meet the service requirement.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to forge positive working relationships with all levels of staff throughout the trust, good all-round IT skills including email, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software and will have proactive problem solving skills and ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders of all grades.
The post is based in York but ability to travel to other Trust sites might be required. You will have the capabilities to work remotely from different sites, including working from home in a hybrid way.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Educated to G.C.S.E (or equivalent) at level C or above, evidencing a good all-round education. G.C.S.E. Maths and English as a minimum
- NVQ Level II Business Administration or equivalent demonstrable experience in a suitably relevant subject
- Degree/Diploma level or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Experience of working with the Data Security & Protection Toolkit
- Data Protection / Information Security qualification
- Certificate in the Freedom of Information Act 2000
