Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of a new operating theatre team for Maternity. York and Scarborough NHS Foundation Trust provides care to women living in and around York, North Yorkshire and the East Coast, with an increase demand on caesarean sections (elective and emergency).

We are looking for experienced Scrub Practitioner to join our Maternity operating theatre team in York and Scarborough. This is a golden opportunity to work within our Maternity multidisciplinary team and have a positive impact in our community.

To be successful in your application, you will need to be able to demonstrate either 3 years' experience in Maternity Theatres OR 3 years' experience in Gynae/GI/Vascular or Urology Theatres.

Main duties of the job

  • Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritise the care for patients undergoing a Surgical / Anaesthetic procedure.
  • Actively supports patients and their families, communicating clinical information using a variety of methods, to ensure effective understanding.
  • Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres, e.g. through sharing knowledge and expertise as required.
  • Prepare and organise clinical area to receive patients for elective and emergency.
  • To safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list.
  • Responsible for adhering to the NMC / HCPC professional Code of Conduct.
