Paediatric Deputy Ward Manager

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse to join the Paediatric team on the Children's Wards at York Hospital.

You should possess excellent clinical and leadership skills and be highly motivated and dedicated to provide support and leadership to junior staff to ensure a high standard of care is being delivered across both units.

As Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse you will be expected to work autonomously as well as part of the team, and will be responsible for coordinating and leading the team on a shift by shift basis, utilising and sharing your clinical expertise and acting as a positive role model within the department for staff, patients and carers.

You will be supported by our enthusiastic Children's Nursing Team, Nurse Educator Specialist Nurses, and medical staff, offering you excellent learning and development opportunities. You will have a tailor made personal and professional development plan to support your career development within this exciting new role.

Main duties of the job

Work with the medical workforce and multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding care to all Children and Young People who access the service. You will be supported to develop into the role by the Nurse educators and experienced Ward Sisters.

  • There will be a robust preceptorship and ongoing competencies to support successful candidates.
  • You will be working in a friendly and compassionate team and will be supported to continuously develop
