Trust Grade ST3 Speciality Registrar in Oncology

Job summary

The post holder will be a central member of a multidisciplinary team providing inpatient and outpatient oncology care, with a focus on supporting the Acute Oncology team. The post is non training, however, opportunities for development will be available

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be supported in keeping themselves up to date with current knowledge & practice, expected to attend clinical meetings within the department & to participate in audit & "in-service" training of other healthcare professionals.

Candidates must have full GMC Registration, and a familiarity with issues of service organisation and development would be particularly advantageous.

The post holder will be required to deputise for absent colleagues from time to time and to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

Essential

  • oAble to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and skill.
  • oWritten and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients & colleagues

Desirable

  • o12 Months continuous experience within the NHS

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • oHas achieved MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
  • oEligible for full GMC registration with license to practice at time of starting the post.
  • oAt least 2 years of Oncology experience (in addition to foundation training).
  • oSatisfactory completion of F1/F2 post or equivalent

Desirable

  • oFull MRCP

Knowledge & Skills

  • oCompetence in basic clinical procedures
  • oAbility to assess, recognise and initiate management of the acutely ill patient and play an effective part in advanced life support.
  • oAware of own limitations
