Theatre Deputy Team Leader

Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a suitably experienced Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner with current HCPC registration, or 1st Level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and recognised anaesthetic qualification, to a full time Deputy Team Leader - Equipment position within ourTheatre team.You will assist the Team Leaders across all our theatre sites in the management of equipment across all surgical specialities within the theatre department, including taking responsibility for themanagement of equipment replacement programmes under the supervision of the Team Leader.

As a skilled and experienced professional you will evidence the ability to use your own initiative, and work collaboratively to solve problems and take action to address issues.

You will have evidence of continuing professional development at degree level or equivalent experience, and should evidence substantiveexperience of at least 3 years within theatre at Band 5, and demonstrate expert clinical and professional practice through bothclinical experience and theoretical knowledge. The post holder will be expected to have a recognized clinical leadership certificate or be willing to undertake a leadership programme.

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain responsibility for the management and coordination of patient care within the Department in the absence of the Team Leader and demonstrate an advanced level of clinical skills.
  • To be involved in the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and teach those skills to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Coordinate where appropriate the activity of other disciplines to meet the care needs of patients. Maintain a safe working environment for staff and patients.

There will be an element of cross site working to meet the service need.

This is a demanding role requiring a committed individual who will work collaboratively with the Team Leader to undertake the ongoingdevelopment of the service, meeting quality standards and lead aspects of change. We provide departmental and corporate induction and are alsoable to offer a professional development programme. The department is flexible with working requests, however to meet service needs the postholder will be required to cover a shift pattern inclusive of night and weekend working.

We will help you to develop strong leadership skills ensuring that you are able to communicate effectively with the perioperative team and theMDT. The post holders will inspire and motivate all grades of staff and will be expected to display personal qualities of empathy, compassion andcare for others.
