Senior Healthcare Support Worker

Job summary

The East Coast Day Surgery Team cover elective day surgery on Haldane and Lloyd ward, and are closely affiliated with the preoperative assessment team, often supporting in all areas to ensure our elective surgical patients have a smooth transition through their elective surgical journey.

The East Coast Day Surgery team are moving forward to also assist with benign non-surgical urological treatments, on both the Scarborough and Bridlington sites. This is an exciting move which will broaden the skill set of the day unit, provide east coast capacity for patients and also bring the team in line with our York Day surgery colleagues.

We offer a Monday to Friday day time only service, meaning an excellent work/life balance for our team members. With the opportunity to partake in waiting list initiatives on limited weekends, which are paid additionally.

Due to this expansion in services we are looking to recruit a Band 3 HCSW to join our dynamic and versatile team. It is vital that you are able to undertake Band 3 tasks such as blood taking, 12 lead ECG and patient observations. We are looking for a HCSW who is kind, compassionate and hard working.

Interviews for this position will be held in person only at the hospital site. Remote interviews will not be available.

Main duties of the job

The job description outlines the primary role and responsibilities of a Senior Health Care Support Worker. It is not exhaustive and may be amended from time to time as the needs of the service change. As this contains core functions of the role, it is important to note that some service areas may have additional skill requirements which are subject to competency based assessments.

There is an expectation for post holders to be flexible in order to provide cover to other clinical areas where there is an increase in service demand.

Conduct and behaviour
