Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Manager to lead and drive improvements in outpatient performance for the central outpatient service at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust.
This is a pivotal role focused on enhancing patient experience, streamlining processes, and delivering measurable performance results across outpatient services. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the clinic management team at both York and Scarborough Hospitals (7WTE) and be part of the senior leadership team for the Outpatient Services Department.
The role is site based at York Hospital and you will be required to have onsite presence at Scarborough Hospital at least once per week. Being site based means that the post holder will be close to the teams, develop effective relationships and be able to provide visible leadership and support.
Main duties of the job
- Analyse outpatient performance and identify areas for improvement based on Key performance criteria
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce waiting times and improve patient flow
- Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to optimise service delivery
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, ensuring targets are met and exceeded
- Champion patient-centred care and foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Manage resources efficiently and support staff development

- Proven management experience within the NHS or a similar environment
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrable track record of improving service performance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to motivate and inspire multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to upholding NHS values and delivering high standards of care
About us
The outpatient services team comprises of 80 WTE and is based on 6 sites across the area. We are the central admin team who undertake all of the admin processes to support patients being referred into hospital added to outpatient waiting lists and booked into the correct services following clinical triage. The Operational Service manager directly manages the outpatient teams. The Delivery Manager will manager the clinic management team and focus on performance improvement, and work in collaboration with the operational manager to ensure that proactive actions are taken to support performance improvement.
