Job summary
We have an opportunity for a Ward Clerk on Ward 39 in York Hospital. Currently Ward 39 is the Fractured Neck of Femur ward, providing pre and post-surgical care for elderly patients.
Interested applicants must have excellent communication skills, be a good team player and enjoy meeting and working with the public.
Basic computer skills are also a requirement for the job and NHS experience would be an advantage, however full training will be given to the successful applicant on use of the hospital computer systems.
Main duties of the job
- Receive general enquiries, via the telephone, email or face to-face, from for example, patients, visitors, staff and others, possibly both internal and external.
- Undertake basic Clerical tasks, such as:- production and issuing of already prepared standard and routine letters- distribution of incoming/outgoing post- filing- retrieval of files- photocopying- completion of standard Forms/Returns including the ordering of stock and supplies.
- Type/word process routine letters and other appropriate documents.
- Input data to relevant computerised databases
- Ensure that both Trust and local Policies and Procedures are followed as necessary to own work
