Deputy Team Leader
An exciting opportunity has arisen in theatres at Scarborough Hospital/Bridlington Hospital, to recruit a Band 6 Deputy Team Leader within our surgical team.
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic practitioner with the appropriate clinical and scrub experience.
You will work alongside the Band 7 to support the team, and continuously develop our service to provide excellent care for our patients. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a keen interest in improving and developing their leadership skills, to enable management of staff and be an effective role model demonstrating high levels of clinical competence & expertise.
You need to have the ability to confidently coordinate the multidisciplinary team, and be able to confidently handle challenging situations.
You will have a minimum of 3 years, Band 5 Theatre anaesthetic experience. You should be able to demonstrate involvement in service improvement with some evidence of change management. You will demonstrate skills in self-management including time management, prioritisation and organisational skills.
This is a demanding role where you will be expected to exhibit knowledge of how we work towards our Trust's vision and be a real team player.
Shift patterns will include covering weekends and bank holidays. You must be able to commit to a rotating shift pattern.
Main duties of the job
You will manage your teams in order to ensure the right workforce is available to deliver person centred care, in a safe and effective clinical environment.
- Demonstrate advanced clinical skills and the ability to prioritise care delivery.
- Recognise the importance of a MDT approach to patient care and coordinate the care delivery acknowledging individual personal contributions, including statutory and voluntary organisations with the professional guidelines.
- To actively participate in the assessing, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the patient, and to contribute to the continuing development of nursing care in agreement with the Department's objectives.
- Ensure nursing practice is evidence based and support and develop research initiatives, applying the findings to practice.
- Advise patients and carers of all aspects of the care and promote compliance where appropriate.
- The post holder is responsible and accountable for their own practice in line with Trust Infection Prevention and Control policies that reflect evidence, best practice and legislative requirements.
- Demonstrate advanced leadership skills and the ability to delegate and assess staff performance through the IDR process, and use of objective setting as a development tool.
- Provide clinical advice and support to junior staff and where appropriate other health workers.
- Scrub experience is essential.
