Experience and Knowledge

Essential

• Extensive experience in the physiotherapy management of patients with spinal pain and radicular pain.
• Significant post qualification experience at a band 7 musculoskeletal level.
• Advanced knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of complex conditions demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning.
• Experience of student supervision and clinical education for a range of staff.
• Experience of research methodology, audit and service development.
• Understanding the role of the Triage and Treat Practitioner within the current environment
• Expert knowledge of the mechanisms and treatment models for musculoskeletal conditions.
• Good understanding and experience of working with the biopsychosocial model of pain
• Expert knowledge in the use of appropriate imaging modalities in spinal pain.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

• Health Professions Council or equivalent registration.
• Degree/diploma in relevant healthcare profession
• Masters level or equivalent experience/qualification in specialist area or significant practical experience.
• Willing to undergo training as necessary to fulfil role

• Expert clinical practitioner.
• Exceptional team building and team working skills.
• Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical fashion.
• Ability to comprehend and work within Trust and CCG policies, including data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety, to meet the differing needs of the patient.
• Teaching and presentation skills relevant to multidisciplinary staff groups.
• Ability to exert moderate to intense physical effort for frequent periods throughout the day.
• Able to work independently.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Proven clinical leadership ability.
• Good interpersonal skills and experience of working collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines other than physiotherapy
• Able to recognise in yourself and others, work related stress and pressures. To manage stressful situations by remaining calm, objective and professional at all times.
• Car Driver with use of car for work purposes

Desirable Attributes

Desirable

• Post-graduate publications
• Membership of MACP or similar
• Independent prescriber.
• Post graduate training in leadership, service improvement, research skills
• Research or publication in musculoskeletal arena.
• Actively involved in teaching to the multidisciplinary team.
• Evaluating and auditing the effectiveness of this training.
• Evidence of presentation of own research locally / nationally / internationally.
• Experience in service development.
• Developed skills in supervision
