Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital to support the establishment and delivery of the Lung Cancer Screening Service (previously Targeted Lung Health Check Programme) as part of a new administrative team.
The lung screening administratorrole will support the flow of patients through the lung cancer screening program, and continue to support processes for any required onward referrals as recommended by the screening review meeting and lung nodule MDT.
There may be requirements to travel across the Trust footprint and wider region to support patients and staff at screening locations.
This is a fast-paced role that will require problem solving and excellent communication skills. It will be essential that the post holder is an organised individual, team player, as well as being able to work on their own initiative. You will also need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues and respond to queries in a professional manner.
The hours of work will be between the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

Main duties of the job
The lung screening administrator will work closely with the service manager and programme manager to:
Support the service from an administrative perspective, as outlined in the national protocol, by acting as first point of contact for patients, booking telephone assessments and CT scans and answering general queries around the lung cancer screening programme
Support with drafting and sending letter correspondence
Work closely with other clinical and non-clinical teams in the wider organisation
Support reporting requirements by working with the service manager to ensure high levels of data quality and keen eye for detail
Develop and deliver the administrative infrastructure, policies and procedures required to establish the service
To support patients attending outpatient appointments using tact and diplomacy, ensuring patients have arrived and general queries are answered/escalated as required.
To ensure all patients who fail to attend-DNA (Did not attend) their appointments are followed up in accordance with the DNA SOP.
To be able to prioritise day-to-day workflow independently
