An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated experienced Band 7 Trained and accredited Nurse Colposcopist to join our outpatient team on the Women's Health Unit at the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

On the Women's Health Unit we provide a number of specialist gynaecological services which include Hysteroscopy, Colposcopy, Urogynaecology, Gynaecology assessment unit, early pregnancy assessment unit. You will be expected to integrate within our team and work across some of these services. Much of your time will be working independently in Colposcopy clinics. These clinics may be in any of our four sites, York, Monkgate, Scarborough and Bridlington. There will be an expectation that one full day per week will be in the Bridlington clinic. You will be expected to attend Colposcopy MDT monthly, which is held on the last Friday of the month.

It will be expected that you will fully participate in regular colposcopy audits, and attend quarterly Colposcopy meetings.

You will need to be accredited for diagnostic and treatment modules.

You will work independently but within a supportive team. You will need excellent communication skills in order to deliver high quality specialist nursing care to women attending Colposcopy within the Women's Unit . You will also need to develop expert clinical skills to ensure the manual dexterity and hand eye co-ordination in order to undertake outpatient Colposcopy.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will deliver independent diagnostic and treatment Colposcopy clinics.

You will manage your own case load and be responsible for all aspects of the patient journey within Colposcopy.

You will also contribute to service improvement and will work within the Colposcopy national standards set out in the Cervical Screening and Colposcopy management guidelines. You will be responsible for informing patients of the outcomes of tests which may confirm the presence or absence of cancer and presenting patients at the appropriate MDT.
