Job summary

We are seeking individuals to come and work with us on our Surgical wards and support our clinical teams in delivering high standards of care to our patients.

The role of the Patient Service Assistant is to support the clinical team with various aspects within healthcare to support a patient's journey. Including cleaning and making beds, restocking equipment, waste disposal inline with Trust Protocols and ensuring the wards are clean and tidy.

As an integral member of the team you will have the confidence and ability to manage and direct patient and relative enquiries, through answering the phone and face to face enquiries.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to work as an integrated member of the ward team guided by the local and Trust policies and procedures. The successful candidate will demonstrate care and compassion whilst ensuring that patients' needs are met. The post holder will have an understanding of Health and Safety within a hospital environment, including Infection Prevention and Control Policies and procedures.

One of the most integral parts of the role is to support patients with there nutritional needs. This would include assisting patients to complete menu's, preparing and serving food and drinks throughout the shift. The PSA will also be able to identify high risk patient's and document allergies and nutritional needs on the ward whiteboards. We have various initiatives in the Trust to support patients with nutrition and hydration whilst in hospital, we would like our PSA's to be able to lead on these.
