The Ophthalmic Imaging team at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our rapidly expanding East Coast service. The post holder will deliver high standards of patient care at Scarborough Hospital, Bridlington Hospital and Malton Hospital, therefore the ability to transport yourself across the locality is essential

This is an exciting opportunity where you will be essential in taking high quality diagnostic ophthalmic imaging in order to help Clinicians to diagnose, monitor and treat complex eye conditions. As technology has advanced, the role of the ophthalmic imaging technician has become more varied. The post-holder will be a key stakeholder in the future development in ophthalmology services across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The core duties of an Ophthalmic Imaging Technician are to take the most Clinically useful OCT scans and fundus photographs using specialist equipment.

There may also be a requirement for the post holder to undertake biometry, visual fields, visual acuity and instil dilating eye drops.

Experience in general photography, fundus photography and OCT scans is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. Proficiency in using Heidelberg Spectralis, Kowa and Optos is desirable.

We are a very busy, fast paced service so you should be able to work calmly and confidently under pressure.

You should be technically minded, show a keen attention to detail and demonstrate a strong commitment to high standards of patient care. You should have a passion for patient-centred care, and kindness that reflects our Trust's values.

You will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team e.g. Photographers, Clinicians and Nurses. You should have experience and skills in teamwork and be able to demonstrate your ability to work effectively as part of a team.
