The Urology Specialist Nursing team have an exciting opportunity to recruit a motivated & enthusiastic individual to the role of Urology Nurse Specialist.

There will be a strong development component to this role so training will be provided in line with the needs of the post-holder and changing demands of the service. Activities will include assessment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), Urodynamic assessment and the management of common bladder conditions.

Main duties of the job

You will join our highly motivated, friendly and supportive specialist nursing team to deliver effective, timely and person-centred care for patients referred to urology with LUTS and continence issues. You will train to provide your own LUTS assessment service and urodynamic clinics in addition to follow up services. Your work will be delivered across site as needed with initial training taking place at Malton Hospital. In time services will also be provided in Scarborough and Bridlington, and you may occasionally be required to work in York.

The successful candidate should have an interest in urology and be an efficient and effective communicator with all staff, patients, and visitors. They will be supported to develop their knowledge and skills under the direction of the Urology Lead Nurse and in conjunction with the Urology Consultants and existing Urology Specialist Nurses. They should also be able to identify and respond to patient queries and issues in a sensitive and competent manner. Some experience (or understanding) of urological and continence nursing is desirable but a keen willingness to learn is essential.
