Neonatal Support Worker

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Neonatal support worker to join our friendly and dynamic team on the Special Care baby unit at Scarborough Hospital. We are a level 1 unit and admit babies from 32 weeks gestation, but also stabilise sick newborns and babies less than 32 weeks with the view to transferring them to other centres.

You will need to be ahighly motivated person, whom will be ready to embrace the world of neonates, sick newborns, and their families. As a neonatal support worker, you will work together with the nursing and midwifery team to provide a high standard of care to our babies and families. Following training you will be competent to undertake and record designated observations and clinical procedures under the supervision of the nursing team.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to build and maintain strong working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team which will include the nursing team, medical team, midwifery team, as well as our new physiotherapist and our level 2-unit York; to provide high quality patient care and service.

You will be required to plan, organise, and deliver clinical care as agreed with the nurse in charge. You will continue to develop and undertake a range of delegated tasks and delegated authority and will report back to you in charge nurse.

You will have a holistic view with the care our babies and families need and give help and support when needed.
