Job summary

We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Children's Nurse to join the Children's Bowel and Bladder Team. The ideal candidate will have an interest inChildren's continence, constipation, enuresis and toileting. The role involves the assessment, treatment, support and education of children and their families with bowel and bladder issues.

The Children's bowel and bladder team are currently delivering some exciting, interactive education sessions and are building excellent links with primary care in order to provide a more efficient and effective service. The new team member will participate in the delivery of these sessions as well as running nurse led clinics.

Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and hold a full and valid driving licence (role will involve travel to numerous addresses that cannot be easily accessed by public transport means) is required.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve the assessment, support, management and education of children and families with bowel and bladder issues. The successful candidate will be required to work as part of multi-disciplinary within the hospital, primary care and education settings. Excellent communication skills are essential part of the role.

This is a permanent position working 22.5 hours per week over 3 days, Monday-Friday. The post is offered as a run through from a band 5 to a band 6 following the completion of specialist training and a minimum of 6 months within the role. The post is primarily based at York hospital, but may involve working in other settings such as schools and home visits at times. The candidate will need to be a car driver.

The role will also involve training and advising colleagues and educational staff to ensure that the children and their families receive the highest levels of care.
