An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Audiologist to join our team!
The successful candidate will:
- Provide audiological cover for ENT clinics, consisting of basic pure tone audiometry, tympanometry and speech audiometry as required.
- Provide a comprehensive hearing aid service to patients referred to the Department from GPs and the ENT Department, including provision of a full range of NHS digital hearing aids.
- Recommend more complex assessments (OAE, obscure auditory dysfunction testing, vestibular assessment, ERA and Tinnitus Assessments/rehabilitation) and perform these as trained appropriately.
- Take aural impressions for all age groups, working within national and departmental protocols and using own clinical judgement to ensure safe and competent practice.
- Participate in departmental audit, research and development.
Main duties of the job
To develop and maintain personal skills and knowledge within the audiological field, maintaining up to date knowledge of procedural and professional developments and disseminating this information to the rest of the Audiological Team as required.
To instruct and train other members of staff and locums as required.
To assess patient need for hearing aids and select the most appropriate model in line with departmental protocols.
To liaise with and refer to medical auditory implant, hearing therapy and local support services as necessary.
To provide a comprehensive range of NHS digital hearing aids to patients based on this information.
To assess the benefit derived from hearing aids, using subjective and objective measures, including informal methods, appropriate questionnaires and insertion gain measurements.
To provide ongoing assessment and maintenance for adult hearing impaired patients.
To liaise with staff involved in the assessment and rehabilitation process, including Audiological and Medical staff and local support services to ensure the effectiveness of routine services.
To perform more advanced test procedures, including vestibular and ERA.
Dealing with Direct Referral patients from GPs, who need to be assessed and subsequently issued with an appropriate hearing aid/s.
Tinnitus assessment and rehabilitation.
