Labour Ward Management at Scarborough Hospital.

You will collaborate with the labour ward manager in post to lead our intrapartum care services at Scarborough site. Your priorities will be a focus on birthing women and people, and family centred care.

To support the right leader of midwives, we can able discuss scenarios to support your other career focus, your travel and other considerations. We encourage flexible and creative thinking to deliver the service our families deserve.

You will support and contribute to our improvement plans, informed by the Maternity Three Year Delivery Plan:

  • Listening to and working with women, birthing individuals and families with compassion
  • Supporting our workforce
  • Developing a culture of safety, learning and support
  • Meeting and improving standards and structures

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and highly motivated Labour Ward Manager who will collaborate with the Labour Ward Manager in post to:

  • Provide senior leadership and hold overall responsibility for the day-to-day operational running of the clinical managerial and requirements for labour ward.
  • Lead by example and empower staff in their personal and professional development.
  • Take the lead role in ensuring the environmental and ward processes are responsive to the needs of women and birthing individuals, providing assurance through agreed mechanisms.
  • Work alongside and support the labour ward team in a clinical capacity when required, being an expert practitioner to guide and advise the multi-disciplinary team as required.
  • You will have excellent communication skills and will inspire your team with your drive and passion for developing people and services.
  • You will be a visible and credible clinical leader, promoting compassionate leadership within the labour ward whilst engaging your team to improve standards of care.

As a professional Midwifery leader you will ensure the professional development and standards of midwives within the labour ward, providing professional oversight and governance.
