Job summary

This is an opportunity for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to make a significant difference to the lives of people living with coronary heart disease.

Primarily based in York, you will have an office and clinic space in our friendly and well established Department of Psychological Medicine, but will also spend part of the week with the York Cardiac Rehabilitation Team in the community.

The MDT (including consultants and nurses) are very open to psychological approaches and have been seeking funding to secure this role for a number of years.

Our department has an ongoing commitment to flexible and hybrid working, so will include some working from home. Good quality supervision and CPD are essential to the well-being of our staff, and we make this a priority.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job are to work with the cardiac rehabilitation MDT to improve the psychological care of people with coronary heart disease.

You will provide individual and group input to patients alongside providing training, advice, consultation and reflective practice to MDT colleagues and will be supported by an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist as well as being part of the wider Acute Medicine Psychology Team.

As a member of the Department you will have the opportunity to contribute and gain experience in the way we are developing both direct and indirect psychological care across our organisation.

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology, including specific models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology. Two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council

Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification in specific models of therapy, e.g. ACT, CFT, EMDR.

Experience & Knowledge Required

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of adults across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, and in-patient settings
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
