Job summary
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Renal Transplant Specialist nursing team, responsible for the management of a caseload of patients preparing for Kidney or Kidney/Pancreas transplantation. It also involves working with people who are preparing to be a living kidney donor
This role involves provision of specialist information and counselling to patients regarding the transplant work-up process, the transplant process and aftercare.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a registered nurse with a minimum of 2 years recent experience within a renal nursing setting. You must be motivated, forward thinking, and have a genuine interest in caring for renal transplant patients.
You will be joining an established specialist nurse team, providing care to support those patients prior to Kidney and dual Kidney / Pancreas transplantation and also those preparing for living Kidney donation. This includes provision of information, counselling, requesting and coordinating required investigations, accurate recording of data and timely listing on the National Transplant Waiting List
You will work closely with the Renal consultants and Renal multi-disciplinary team, the regional transplanting centres and the national transplant organisations. The role also includes participating in audit and service development initiatives.
You will be expected to be flexible to meet the changing needs of the service, and be able to use own initiative to work independently, managing a caseload of patients.
