Job summary
We are seeking a motivated consultant radiologist with a specialist interest in Nuclear Medicine. The radiology department has recently undergone a process of expansion & development. The current team consists of 36 Radiologists: 29 diagnostic and 7 interventional radiologists, who provide a breadth of subspecialty interests.
The Trust is currently in the process of a significant replacement of equipment with the expected introduction of SPECT/CT in 2024 which will continue the use of diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging for a wide range of clinical indications. A weekly PET-CT service is also supported by the department currently performing studies for the investigation of oncological and inflammatory conditions. An additional nuclear medicine radiologist is sought to support service expansion and innovation.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must have Specialist Registration in Radiology (or within 12 months of CCT) having undertaken subspecialty higher level training in radionuclide radiology / nuclear medicine. The successful candidate will be an ARSAC license holder or eligible to apply for an ARSAC license within six months of taking up the post. There is scope to bring or develop a further sub-specialty interest to complement existing expertise within the main Radiology Department.
The post is based at York with an expectation to cover sessions at Scarborough, (currently approximately one day per fortnight). The role includes a commitment to general reporting for acute and cold cases and participate in the on- call rota. Acute CT and MRI reporting is dealt with by a team based within a dedicated acute reporting hub. All Radiologists have a short weekly session as the duty radiologist. On call is currently on a 1:19 rota with registrar support and outsourcing from 9pm weekdays and 5pm weekends
The radiology department is committed to teaching. We support radiology trainees from both West Yorkshire (Leeds) and east Yorkshire (Hull) training schemes. The department is consistently rated highly by trainees. We have strong links with the Hull York Medical School, providing further opportunities in undergraduate teaching and training.
