Job summary

As an exciting new post for the trust, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and mould the Vascular Access Service.

The post will cover all of the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital sites and the post holder will need to travel to meet the needs of the service.

It is essential that the post holder is either a current qualified Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience in a patient facing and educational role. A minimum of 3 years post registration experience in a patient facing and educational role is desirable.

Main duties of the job

In Collaboration with the Consultant Lead for the vascular service, the post holder will deliver an effective, responsive, and high quality vascular access service across the sites.

You will act as a clinical expert in relation to vascular access - providing clinical leadership to nursing staff and expert professional advice to other professionals, multi-disciplinary groups, patients, relatives and carers.

You will develop the practice of the multidisciplinary team and be responsible for reducing the level of line related bacteraemia's and other Central Venous Access Device complications.

The post holder will promote evidence-based practice in vascular access through the integration of expert clinical practice, education, and implementation of guidelines and policies.
