Job summary
The Scarborough, Hull and York Pathology Service (SHYPS) is seeking a suitably qualified Biomedical Scientist or Trainee Biomedical Scientist to work in our busy, friendly, Immunology Laboratories at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Based in Hull, your role will be to carry out analytical tests in the new regional Immunology laboratories. Rotating through all sections of the department under the supervision of a Senior Biomedical Scientist you will get the opportunity to work in our autoimmune, immunochemistry, flow cytometry and allergy laboratories. We are looking for an individual who is hard working, innovative, sociable, and works well as part of a team.
To qualify for the Biomedical Scientist role applicants must be registered with the HCPC. Individuals applying for a trainee position must have an IBMS accredited Biomedical Science degree or equivalent.
The Immunology Laboratory is based in a purpose built facility at Hull Royal Infirmary that forms part of an integrated Blood Sciences service within The Scarborough Hull and York Pathology Service. The department provides a wide-ranging laboratory service to primary and secondary care.

Main duties of the job
- To carry out the analysis of patient samples, and provide interpretive advice in the provision of a Clinical Laboratory Service according to departmental SOPs and departmental Quality Assurance Policy.
- To use and maintain highly specialist scientific instruments for the diagnosis and monitoring of disease.
- Communicate effectively with clinicians, nurses and other service users.
