Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Biomedical Scientist within the Blood Transfusion Department; based at Hull Royal Infirmary.

This role is key to the provision of a safe and effective Blood Transfusion Service, whilst supporting the department to meet the requirements for regulatory compliance.

Applicants must be HCPC registered, and ideally have MSc or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma (or working towards), and be able to demonstrate in-depth specialist knowledge in Blood Transfusion. The successful applicant does not need to have Band 7 experience, but must have experience of working at Band 6 in Blood Transfusion. Skills in training and IT would be beneficial.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible, in collaboration with the Chief BMS and Senior Team, for the development and maintenance of the service.

There is a requirement to participate as a member of the Support Shift which entails some evening and weekend working in the laboratory.
