Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team as part of York Hospitals Trust's Renal services, which also includes a satellite unit at Easingwold and a second satellite unit in Harrogate.

Dialysis is a specialised but very rewarding form of nursing so if you are keen tolearn new skills and enjoy working in a team then this could be the job for you.You would be based atYork but may occasionally be asked to cover shifts atEasingwold or Harrogate. A comprehensive training package is provided for all new staff.
Main duties of the job
- Providing Haemodialysis treatment for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
- Management of complications of CKD e.g. anaemia and Renal bone disease.
- Patient education and promotion regarding life with a chronic illness.
- Psychological care of patients and families.
- Taking bloods and gathering data on a monthly basis to help analyse adequacy of dialysis treatment.
- Co ordination of patients
- Identification of potential individuals who would benefit from Provision of training for home based dialysis
- Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
- Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
- Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
- Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
- Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
- Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
