York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a transformational leader with significant experience to be the Director of Midwifery and Strategic Clinical Lead for the Care Group of Family Health.
They will lead the midwifery profession, overseeing measures to safeguard and develop quality and safety in maternity care through excellence in midwifery. Setting and meeting high standards of care through active, visible leadership, both are key components of this role to ensure safe and effective care to women and their families, and all patients that use the Care Groups services.
This is a critical, high-profile and transformative senior leadership role and is a key member of the Chief Nurse team.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and highly experienced leader with significant experience of delivering improvement programmes and working with and at Board level.
- You will have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to deal with complex situations.
- You will have excellent communication skills and will inspire your teams with your drive and passion for developing people and services.
- You will be a visible and credible Clinical leader, promoting compassionate leadership within your areas of responsibility whilst engaging your teams to improve standards of care.
As professional Midwifery Lead you will ensure the professional development and standards of midwives across our Trust, providing strong professional oversight and governance.

- Able to demonstrate up-to-date clinical expertise and competence and expert proven knowledge of Maternity Services
- Educated to Master's Level in a healthcare related subject or is studying towards a master's with a deadline for completion
- Management qualification formally recognised by NHSE
- Leadership programme formally recognised by NHSE
Desirable
- Registered Nurse
