Staff Nurse - ICU (York)

Job summary
We are seeking to recruit highly motivated individuals who can maintain high standards of evidence based, holistic, patient centred care, acting as a primary or associate nurse with or without direct supervision within our ICU and HDU. You will deliver direct patient care in liaison with the senior nurse on duty and in addition (and where Critical Care skills allow) are required to be the experienced nurse within the HDU to ensure the effective running of the area.
We expect staff to assist in promoting a positive working and learning environment to aid the personal and professional development of self and other staff. You will be joining an established and dynamic multi-disciplinary team where clinical and nursing teams works well together; depending on experience you will be offered preceptorship/supernumerary time.
You must have 1st level registration (or about to qualify within 3 months), have an awareness of current issues in Critical Care.
You must have an awareness of current issues in nursing. You will have a range of skills that include effective written and verbal communication, be numerate, have the ability to organise your own work and deliver care in a timely manner. You must be willingto undertake further training and development to meet the needs of the Critical Care service.

Main duties of the job
- Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
- Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
- Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
- Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
- Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
- Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
- Education and Training.
