Job summary

This role is based at Harrogate Hospital under a service level agreement with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an ideal post for an Audiologist/Clinical Scientist who would like to develop their paediatric Audiology skills.

This role includes undertaking developmentally appropriate audiological assessments in children of all ages, including those considered non-routine. The role includes the hearing aid fitting and evaluation of hearing aids of children of all ages and paediatric assessments on ENT.

You will be an Audiologist with a BSc or MSc in Audiology, must be registered with the AHCS/RCCP or HCPC, and show evidence of practising in an NHS audiology clinic.

The post holder may at times be required to travel to York for training and further development. You will also work with the paediatric audiology team leaders to develop the service further.

Main duties of the job

  • To develop and maintain personal skills and knowledge within the Audiological field, maintaining up to date knowledge of procedural and professional developments and disseminating this information to the rest of the Audiological Team as required
  • To instruct and train other members of staff and locums as required
  • To assess patient need for hearing aids and select the most appropriate model in line with departmental protocols.
  • To liaise with and refer to medical auditory implant, hearing therapy and local support services as necessary.
  • To provide a comprehensive range of NHS digital hearing aids to patients based on this information
  • To assess the benefit derived from hearing aids using subjective and objective measures, including informal methods, appropriate questionnaires and insertion gain measurements.
  • To liaise with staff involved in the assessment and rehabilitation process including Audiological and Medical staff and local support services to ensure the effectiveness of routine services
  • To perform visual reinforcement audiometry, play audiometry and pure tone audiometry
