Job summary
Due to staff progression we are currently recruiting for a band 5 staff nurse to join the Lawrence Unit Bridlington Hospital/Bronte Unit Scarborough Hospital.
We are looking for a confident skilled RN to work full time 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday. (Applicants who prefer a part-time post may be considered to fill the whole time equivalent post)
The base for the post will be either the Lawrence unit at Bridlington Hospital or Bronte Unit Scarborough Hospital (Negotiable with the successful candidate) but cross site cover for holidays and sickness is expected as part of the role.
The Lawrence/Bronte Units provide nurse led outpatient services to patients requiring a variety of treatments and/or tests including Blood transfusions, Platelet transfusion, Venesections, all intravenous therapies including antibiotics, immunoglobulin, bisphosphonates, biological therapy, Steroids, iron infusions and blood tests to diagnose Endocrinology conditions. The following services are also provided within the Lawrence unit at Bridlington Hospital, Care of the elderly outpatient service which includes Movement disorder clinic andFalls clinic.
The Lawrence unit also provides an anticoagulation service to holiday makers, DVT assessment and treatment service, Hickman line/ Iv Access device flushing and the Tilt Table Test Service are also provided within Lawrence unit.
Main duties of the job
- Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
- Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
- Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
- Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
- Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
- Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
