We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team as a Clinical Teaching Fellow (Adult Nursing) .
The Clinical Teaching Fellow is a joint appointment between the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York, and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will play an important role in the development and delivery of teaching to nursing students on the University of York's education programmes.
The role of the Clinical Teaching Fellow (Adult Nursing) is to support the learning and development of students on the University of York nursing programmes in academic and clinical environments, strengthening the partnership between the Trust and University of York, ensuring an exceptional student experience, and positively contributing to the future healthcare professional workforce.
Main duties of the job
Based at the University of York for 22.5 hours a week, you will join an established, experienced team of educators who facilitate innovative, research-informed teaching to develop their learners into competent and confident Registered Nurses.
Spending the other 15 hours a week within York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust you will work alongside Student Nurses and within the wider health care team to strengthen and reinforce links between theory and practice. The role will also involve supporting the preceptorship process, enabling our students to transition to registered healthcare professionals, working alongside the Preceptorship Team.
There will be ongoing training for you to learn and develop your teaching skills as well as keeping up to date with evidence based clinical knowledge.

- Current registration with NMC as a Registered Nurse
- Degree in Nursing or related Healthcare
- Recognised teaching certificate, e.g. ILS/ALS instructor, GIC course, ENB 998, Cert Ed, PGCE
Desirable
- Working towards a Masters level qualification in nursing or relevant professional subject or PhD in relevant subject area or equivalent professional experience
Experience and knowledge required
Essential
- At least significant post registration experience in a clinical setting
- Experience of facilitating learning, teaching and assessment in clinical practice
- Knowledge of NMC standards for student supervision and assessment and delivery of safe and effective learning experiences for nursing students in practice
- Experience of mentoring/supervising pre-registration healthcare students in practice

- Previous experience of working as a Practice Education / Learning Facilitator
