Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Coder to join our Team as a Remote Clinical Coder at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

You must possess a keen eye for detail and be capable of organising your own workload in order to meet strict monthly deadlines. You will have a proven record of working in a team environment and contributing to the team's success, be able to analyse and interpret complex medical information in a timely and accurate manner whilst adhering to national coding standards and best practice guidelines. You will be expected to effectively communicate with all relevant healthcare professions and attend clinical coding training and workshops, as necessary to maintain personal development.

Successful applicants will be shortlisted based upon how they meet the criteria set out in the Person Specification. Candidates who fail to demonstrate this will not be shortlisted.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Coder qualified Band 4

For this position you must be an Accredited Clinical Coder or have a minimum of 3 years UK Clinical Coding experience, and demonstrate the following criteria on your application form:

  • Extensive, varied UK clinical coding experience
  • Computer literate
  • Educated to the GCSE standard
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS4 clinical coding classifications
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology
  • Understanding of coding rules and conventions
  • Ability to abstract clinical information from case notes
  • Ability to communicate with all relevant healthcare professions
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to the team's success
