Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated registered professional to join our friendly and dynamic team. We are looking for caring individuals who have a flexible approach to working, and who have good knowledge and interest of infection prevention and control.
This is a developmental post which will require completion and achievement of core IPC skills, competencies and knowledge to transition to Band 6.
The post holder will be expected to complete and be signed off in all components of the IPC induction program, which are aligned to the Infection Prevention Society (IPS) competencies.
The post holder will be expected to enrol on the IPC Post Graduate Certificate course by the end of their first year in post.
The post holder will be expected to join the on call rota on completion of the induction and sign off of all competencies; working 9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
This job will be undertaken between 9am-5pm or 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
- Management of a defined workload for infection prevention and control.
- Have continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and training and the setting of standards of care in relation to infection prevention and control.
- Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
- Provide IPC advice to a specific group of care settings, staff and patients.
- Contribute to the development of the infection prevention and control service.
- Maintain a flow of communication with the IPC team that enables efficient and productive working.
- Should be willing to undertake the IPC post graduate certificate course.
- In collaboration with the Specialist IPC nurses, develop and review policies that are evidence based.
