Job summary

Are you an experienced carer wanting to start a career within the NHS? Working as a Healthcare Support Worker at our Trust may be the perfect role for you!

We are seeking dynamic individuals who are passionate about patient care. You will be able to communicate at all levels to help drive our service forward and provide high standards of safe patient care at all times.

As part of the recruitment process you will need to attend our Healthcare Support Worker Information Session. This takes place on 20th September 2023 from 12:30 to 13:30 via MS teams, please click here to register your interest in this information session.

If you are successful at shortlisting you will be invited to come along to a face to face interview on Monday 2nd October 2023. There will be the chance for you to meet some of our current nursing team from different areas within the hospital and find out more about the role and what it is like to work for the Trust. We will also have representatives from our Clinical & Associate Educators and Work Based Learning Teams who will be able to discuss with you our comprehensive training programme at our Healthcare Support Worker Academy, how you can gain your care certificate and the on-going support you will receive working in our Trust.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Support Worker at York Hospital, you will be part of a multi-professional team providing high standards of care to our patients. You will maintain and promote patient independence and dignity to ensure each patient receives a positive experience.Please see the attached document 'Healthcare Support Worker Key Duties' to see a full list of key duties.

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will be expected to work a combination of shifts including nights, weekends and Bank Holidays:

  • Early - 07:00-15:00
  • Late - 12:00 - 20:00
  • Long Day - 07:00 - 20:00
  • Twilight - 18:00 - 02:00
  • Night - 19:30 - 07:30

Please be aware that you must be able to attend a full time induction programme, 08:00 - 16:00 Monday to Friday, for the first 4 weeks in your new role.
