Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, to join Nelson Court Ward 1, Rehabilitation In-patient Unit.

Ward 1 provides 24 hour care and rehabilitation following a stay in hospital. We provide holistic, high quality care for patients, and engage with them to achieve their therapy goals in order for a safe and timely discharge.

All nursing and AHP staff at Nelson Court are hard working, friendly and committed to providing high standards of care for all patients and relatives who use our services. Our teams work together with the wider Multi-disciplinary team to optimise outcomes for patients.

Main duties of the job

We work on the home first principle. The successful candidate would have the passion, drive and communication skills to support patients and staff, to achieve therapy goals and optimise patient flow.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Ward Sister, to ensure the smooth running of the ward 24 hours of the day. This will involve supporting staff to provide high standards of patient care, promoting patient safety and a positive patient experience.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic nurse, who is willing to enhance their leadership skills. leadership development and training are available, and there is already a strong culture of support and collaborative working across the community units.

The successful post holder will support the Ward Sister:

  • Supporting training and development needs for all ward staff and Student Nurses
  • Supporting in the leadership and management of staff, within the ward unit on a day to day basis
  • Deputising for the Ward Sister
  • Promoting patient safety and the positive patient experience
  • Providing clinical leadership and leading by example
