Job summary

Following an organisational restructure, a new role has been developed in the Medicine Care Group as the Head of Allied Health Professionals. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to join the Care Group Leadership Team.

The Care Group contains a broad and diverse range of Acute, Emergency and Community Services including the Emergency Department, Acute Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Renal medicine, Stroke, Older Peoples Heath, Dietetics, Speech & Language Therapy, Community Teams and Palliative medicine across North Yorkshire and York.

The Head of AHP will influence across the care group and within local networks, Integrated Care System and Trust wide. You will be part of the team providing assurance on quality, safety, and risk management. You will also be a lead in the transformation of services and be responsible for the line management of the Senior AHP Managers within the four directorates.

This new role is an opportunity to be part of shaping health and care not just across our acute Trust but also across the wider health economy.

The Head of AHP is a key leadership role and will suit an individual with a strong track record of Senior Operational Leadership and experience within Emergency Care and community, who is skilled and confident in leading complex programmes of improvement, can demonstrate credibility with clinical teams.

The interview date for this post is Friday 1st September at York Hospital site.

Main duties of the job

The role is an exciting and challenging one and you will work with Senior Clinicians, Nurses, General Managers and Business Analysts and other managerial colleagues to ensure that the services being delivered are safe and of high quality. In addition, you will ensure mandatory performance standards are met, while considering patient needs and views.

This role will provide clear, visible leadership to create a culture of compassion, creativity and candour which is truly committed to improving the patient experience.. Responsible for coordinating the governance of AHP services within the Care Group and providing assurance to the Care group senior leadership and Chief AHP team. Provide strategic leadership, vision, direction, and line management to the AHP Leads.

The role will coordinate and lead AHP and non AHP elements of the delivery of the care groups improvement/ transformation programme. and support the Associate Chief AHP and Chief AHP Team to deliver the Trust's AHP Strategy and AHP Assurance framework within the Care Group, contributing to pan-Care Group AHP work streams are required.
