We are looking for clinical cover in the York and Ryedale areas.
Main duties of the job
To undertake support work to aid the rehabilitation of patients based in York, presenting with musculoskeletal conditions e.g. back pain, following joint replacement, fractured limbs and soft tissue injuries.
To manage your own caseload of patients under the direct and indirect supervision of our physiotherapists.
To accept patients referred by a therapist to continue their management under direct and indirect supervision of the allocated physiotherapist.
To gain knowledge and participate in a competency period where you will gain a full understanding of various MSK condition and their relevant treatment protocols.
To teach, supervise and progress simple and protocol-based intervention programmes to patients within agreed limits relevant to knowledge/experience.
To plan programmes of therapeutic interventions for individuals and groups of patients/clients. This will include coaching patients with rehabilitation in a gym environment.
Clinical work is evaluated; supervision takes the form of regular formal and informal training, clinical reasoning sessions and case conferences

Essential
- Evidence of academic ability to NVQ 3/ Diploma or equivalent.
- Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to undertake relevant departmental training in order to achieve required clinical competencies.
Desirable
- Relevant qualification/training to a higher level e.g. access to health care
- Foundation degree in exercise therapy or equivalent portfolio evidence of relevant learning
Experience & Knowledge Required
Essential
- Experience of working as a band 3 Therapy assistant in an acute NHS environment
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience of making practical decisions using theoretical knowledge.
- Experience of being responsible for some decision making
Desirable
- Experience of working with specific patient/client group.
- Experience of working as part of a therapy team
- Involved in audit, research and understanding quality issues
