Would you like to join our Sexual Health team working across York and North Yorkshire?
We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Sexual Health Nurse Specialist. Our applicant must hold an FRSH diploma or equivalent, be competent in sub dermal implant insertion/removal and is or working towards being, a student nurse assessor. You should be a non-medical prescriber or working towards the qualification. The ability to fit intrauterine devices is desirable, but not essential. Our service offers development opportunities and has a strong improvement and innovation culture, with quality at its core.Applicants need to possess outstanding communication skills, be a team player and demonstrate a real passion for quality sexual health care.
The role is for up to full time hours of 37.5 per week, with a minimum of 30 hours. Our successful candidate will work cross site, between York and Selby with a travel base to be determined at interview. Please indicate which travel base you would prefer of York or Selby, within your application form.
You may also be expectedto travel to and work in our services in Harrogate, Northallerton and Scarborough.Therefore, the ability to transport yourself across the locality during the normal working day is a requirement of this role.
As a Band 6 sexual health Nurse Specialist, you will take on specialist interest roles, will lead on service improvement projects and manage the day to day running of the clinics.
Main duties of the job
The department supports a consultant and nurse-led approach to the delivery of services and care. The post holder will be responsible for:
- Autonomous management of total episodes of care for patients including patient assessment
- Independent examination
- STI screening
- Supply of STI treatments
- Contraception-including LARC
There is an expectation that to support your ongoing qualifications you will become a member of the FRSH.
