Job summary

Are you keen to further develop yourself both clinically and professionally within the acute Cardiology setting? If so then an exciting opportunity has arisen!

Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is seeking dynamic nursing associates to join our team, and you will be working closely alongside the registered nursing staff to monitor and provide care for the patients under our care.

CCU comprises of 8 Level 0-2 beds, where patients are cared for with conditions including, but not limited to; myocardial infarctions (including STEMI who are declined for PPCI), Cardiogenic shock (requiring inotropic support), Acute Coronary Syndromes, rhythm abnormalities (including unstable patients requiring isoprenaline / the insertion of a temporary pacing wire and / or external pacing, as well as both Urgent and Elective DCCV), acute pulmonary oedema (including those requiring NIV or / or inotropes), heart failure and congenital abnormalities. We also provide a 24 hour Cardiac Outreach Service to the wider hospital. We care for patients following a variety of procedures including; diagnostic angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI's), permanent pacemaker and complex device insertions and patients that have been repatriated from a tertiary center following Primary PCI.

We promote flexible working practices within the unit and internal shift rotation is required for this post.

Main duties of the job

You must be dedicated to the provision of high standards of patient care, and the continuous development of the service we provide to our patients. Previous experience is desirable, although not essential.

Working alongside and with support of the nursing team in the coronary care unit on the York site to manage a caseload of patients, duties will include cardiac monitoring, chest pain assessment, pre and post procedure care, assisting in emergency situations.
