Clinical Support Worker (Outpatients)

Job summary

The Clinical Support worker in the outpatients department plays a vital role in supporting the Doctors and Registered Nurses in the smooth running of the clinics.

You will be responsible for liasing with all specialties within the department, including clerical and clinical and it is vital that you are a team player who can multi task as this is a fast paced environment

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for working with all specialties such as:

General Surgery, ENT, Gastro, Rheumatology, Gynaecology, Obesity and many more. The Clinical Support worker in the clinic will need to be able to speak to all service users and escalate concerns to the trained nurses, help the service users with their appointments and liase with the Doctors regarding any issues in clinic.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Care certificate completion
  • L3 Health and Social Care Qualification or equivalent experience (minimum 12 months)

Desirable

  • Completion of Healthcare assistant Development programme
  • Level 2 maths and English

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Previous experience in a healthcare role at Band 2
  • Meet required clinical competences for area of service delivery and experience of delivering delegated clinical duties under supervision of NA/RN (as outlined in section 2, paragraph 3 of the JD)
  • Demonstrable experience in dealing with patient who are sick and distressed
  • Experience of working in multi-professional teams
  • Experience of working under pressure and dealing with competing demands
  • Experience of communicating with people from different backgrounds
  • Evidence of proficiency for clinical skills expected for Clinical Support Workers
  • Basic digital skills

Desirable

  • Experience of using digital systems in a healthcare setting
  • Experience of working in a range of healthcare settings
  • Mentoring and coaching skills
