This part-time Band 2 position offers 37.5 hours per week and includes weekend and bank holiday working as part of our 7-day service.

You will work across a range of areas -- including Phlebotomy, Outpatients and Ward In-Patient services -- at both Bedford Hospital and Gilbert Hitchcock House. As an integral member of our team, you will support essential diagnostic services and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an individual to join our well-established team to carry out phlebotomy duties within Outpatient departments and across the Trust as required. Key responsibilities include participating in the routine phlebotomy service, working independently when necessary, and effectively prioritising workload. You will be expected to follow all Trust infection prevention and control policies, including hand hygiene, personal hygiene, and environmental and food hygiene, and to complete all required infection-control training.

The role involves managing a high volume of patients while treating each person with care and ensuring the correct number and type of blood containers are used. Professional conduct must be maintained at all times.

Previous phlebotomy experience is preferred.
