Job summary
The post holder will deliver a consistently high standard of nursing care through the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised programmes of patient care. They will work closely with the department/ward manager and the multidisciplinary team to monitor and maintain policies, standards of nursing care, and contribute to staff and service development within the department/ward environment.
The post holder will carry out all relevant aspects of care under appropriate supervision and, once competent, independently demonstrate required clinical procedures. They will be responsible for supervising junior qualified and unqualified staff, including student nurses, while ensuring a safe and supportive working environment is maintained at all times.

Assess patient care needs and the development and implementation of programmes of patient care and participate in the evaluation of these
To ensure a high standard of nursing care is performed at all times and assist in the review and regular update of these standards.
Ability to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in the patient's condition and safety.
Adhere to all Trust Policies to maintain professional, clinical and patient safety.
Ability to administer oral drugs safely and independently and that they are administered in line with the NMC and Trust Policy guidelines.
Be aware of the principles of infection control and the prevention of cross infection in relation to patient care and the clinical environment.
To undertake intravenous drug therapy administration following a training programme which will assess the competencies and practical levels required to achieve safe working within the Trust policies and procedures.
Care and control of medication and controlled drugs used for patient care, being aware of the systems used for safe administration and the ordering and maintenance of stock.
Maintain the Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations (IRMER) and to be aware of radiation protection with regards to staff and patients.
To undertake a clinical role including rotational nursing activities within rotational nursing activities within the department i.e. pre-assessment, scrub nurse, recovery nurse and shift co-ordinator
