Gynaecology Straight To Test Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for triaging suspected cancer referrals within the gynae-oncology pathway. This includes coordinating and requesting investigations, arranging pre-assessment for diagnostic procedures, delivering results, and making tertiary referrals where appropriate.

The role will support and contribute to the delivery of the Faster Diagnosis Standard.

In addition, the post holder will provide a holistic, patient-centred service by offering evidence-based information and advice to patients on the gynae-oncology cancer pathways, supporting them and their families throughout their journey to enhance the overall patient experience.

Main duties of the job

  • Triage referrals to the appropriate pathway (STT or Outpatient Appointment).

  • Undertake pre-assessment to ensure patients are directed to the correct diagnostic procedure(s) based on their symptoms.

  • Work as part of the gynae-oncology team to deliver a timely and high-quality service for both suspected and confirmed gynaecology cancer patients.

  • Make informed decisions based on investigation results.

  • Audit outcomes and provide relevant statistics to the Cancer Management Teams.

  • Analyse and interpret national and local guidance relating to gynaecology cancer, and work collaboratively to develop and implement plans that ensure compliance
