Job summary

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Skin Team as Band 6 - Support Nurse. We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated nurse to join this busy service. The nurse will have the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of skin cancer management in secondary care and develop key CNS skills in an environment supported by an experienced nursing team.

Main duties of the job

To support the current Skin Clinical Nurse Specialist in providing supportive care for patients with skin cancers, their relatives and carers from diagnosis, throughout treatment, survivorship pathways and metastatic disease.

To provide a holistic, patient-focused service delivering evidence based information and advice to patients with skin cancers, supporting them and their families throughout diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care.

To act as 'key-worker' and patient advocate within the multi-disciplinary team co-ordinating individual patients care; promoting continuity through the treatment modalities, and to provide patients with a primary point of contact for information and advice.

To provide this specialist clinically based service in liaison with the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the band 7 CNS nurse in developing and monitoring service provision in line with National Guidance and evidence based practice.
